Working on Actual Beta! (Alpha? (First Usable?))
Shonikado -- September 17th, 2012
So in the end, I gave up on trying to make a pretty site. I am just
not at the level of HTML-mancy required to pull that off without
an excessive amount of work, and why make everything look nice
if there's nothing it's actually doing? So, I decided to make
a sort of okay-this-is-workable version of the site first, and
implement all of the actual php and sqlite code required to make
it run. Then, and ONLY then, do I intend to think at all about
making the site visually pleasing. Or at least, attempting to do
so for the more complicated things. Like nested divs and their
alignment. Because that's just /heavy bullshit/.
At the moment, I've just got most of the buttons set up in the
places they're /supposed/ to go. In reality there should just be
a login button since you're not logged in (how could you be? No
accounts), but I figured this made for a better placeholder. Also,
yes, we will have a News page. This is it. After I get accounts set
up, the first thing I'm going to do will be to make the news page
functional, so instead of just editing this thing manually I can
just submit updates. That'd be cool.
Anyway, that's all I can think of to say for now. This is the extent
of the work I'm going to have done tonight, which is kind of
hilarious in a bizarre way because we've made /negative/ progress
since the last time I updated. (The old layout looked nicer! But
had nesty div bullshit which I have mentioned is bullshit.) ANYWAY.
If any of you knows HTML for the love of god /tell me/
P.S. Don't worry, I saved the old layout's HTML code-y stuff. I may
just bring that back and try to make it play nice instead of
developing an entire new site from scratch.
